TREE FELLING

Sometimes there’s no other solution than tree removal: safety issues, subsidence and development of land can all be valid reasons. We’re equipped with the skills and tools to do this safely. Our kit is regularly tested by LOLER qualified inspectors and renewed if necessary to make sure we improve our working methods and maintain best practice.

WHAT IS TREE FELLING EXACTLY?

Tree Felling is the process of cutting down a tree and removing all waste including branches and logs. There are two techniques for removing trees, which is usually dependant on the available space.

SECTIONING/SECTIONAL TREE FELLING

This method of Tree Felling is used when a tree is positioned in an awkward location, such as in a back garden with a greenhouse underneath, or any other structure that could be damaged. This means that the tree needs to be felled in sections using advanced rigging and climbing techniques and in some occasions using a MEWP (mobile elevated work platform).

DIRECTIONAL FELLING

Directional Felling is where a tree is cut from the base and allowed to fall to the ground in a controlled manner.

A directional fell is usually carried out in forest work or properties with enough space, but smaller trees can be felled safely in most gardens or properties. We will always use ropes to assist the fall, and in some instances wedges to avoid the tree falling the opposite way.
